Brad, should we be reporting these for all bands, or will the counts eventually catch up? I was under the impression that the counts were off for just about every band...though if you're taking requests, Guster lists 219 on the collection page (http://www.archive.org/details/Guster) but 220 under creator:Guster (http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=creator%3A%22Guster%22&sort=-%2Fmetadata%2Fdate).

Not all of the various bands' shows have ended up in those bands. To see which bands have shows that have slipped between the cracks, you can run a search thusly:

creator:(bandname) AND -collection:(bandname)

Note the minus sign before "collection". This means items that are NOT in that collection.

Running this with bandname=radiators, as an example, I found one more show:
http://www.archive.org/details/rads2006-03-24sbdFLAC

Checking on Guster (for greenone), I found no shows, but I did get a single result for the band's collection. I suspect that this explains the discrepancy he's seeing. To doublecheck, I ran "creator:guster AND -mediatype:collection" and only got 219 results, which would seem to confirm.

Anyway, I think that this test should be run against all (or at least most) of the bands on the Archive. It's a little tedious to do manually (and even more tedious to have to post the results on the forum), so I hope the Archive engineers will find some way to do this automatically, and apply the necessary corrections automatically as well. (Or at least apply the results semi-automatically, since fully-automatic might be a trifle dangerous.)

I'll have to look at what you're talking about in more depth later, but at a glance the underlying problem with that particular example http://www.archive.org/details/rads2006-03-24sbdFLAC is that it's misfiled in Open Source Audio!

And it looks to have been placed there in 4/2006, not a new-system thing. Can you remember if it was actually ever in LMA to begin with?

One good part of all being together under the new system- we can fix OSA/LMA misfiles without making someone reupload the show now, I think! :)

I have not a clue, but my guess would be that it was not. However, I ran the same "creator AND -collection" query a few days ago, and turned up the shows that Fishhead listed. So that part definitely works. I just never got around to mentioning it, what with all that's been going on around here recently.

Now that is good news! :)
